Lie-Nielsen Tenon Saws
The Lie-Nielsen Tenon Saws are large backsaws used for making accurate deep cuts in furniture joinery. They should cut straight and fast and the blade should not bind in the cut. For cutting tenons (with the grain) the 10 tpi rip filed saw is a great choice. The 13 TPI saws filed crosscut can be used for cross grain work like tenon shoulders - housing dados and sliding dovetails or precise cut off with a small miter box.
Lie-Nielsen Tenon Saws are based on Disston models with classic curly maple handles - stout 3/4 in. x 1/4 in. milled brass backs and .032 in thick Swedish steel blades. They are solid - well balanced and smooth cutting.
