The Lie-Nielsen No.164 Low Angle Smoothing Plane is based on the rare Stanley 164 and is essentially a shorter version of the Low Angle Jack Plane — with the adjustable mouth and massive 3/16 in. thick and 2 in. wide blade set at 12 degrees.
The tool is only 9 1/2 in. long. Like the Jack it excels at both rough and finish work and can be converted from one mode to another very quickly. At just over 3-3/4 lbs this tool has authority behind it. The unique overhead Bailey type blade adjuster provides silky smooth adjustment at your fingertips.
