17th Century New England Carving - Carving the S-Scroll With Peter Follansbee (DVD)
This style of carved decoration takes its inspiration from furniture and woodwork from both England and New England, spanning most of the seventeenth century.
In his second video, Peter focuses on the S-Scroll. The S-Scroll is one if the most common elements used in various ways and combinations. Mastering it provides a good foundation for this style of carving. Peter shows how using simple layout techniques, as well as free hand.

About the author: Peter Follansbee initially trained as a Chair Maker in 1980. For the past 25 years, the craft of seventeenth-century joinery has been his specialty. Drawing on extensive research in private and museum collections both in the United States and
in England, Peter Follansbee makes reproductions of joined stools, chairs, chests, clipboards and other pieces all in the manner of an English joiner of the period. Since 1994 he has been the joiner at Plimoth Plantation, the living history museum in Plymouth. Massachusetts.
