Starrett Band Saw Blade Tension Gauge - The Starrett No. 682EMZ will check for proper blade tension in either English or metric. It is graduated both in pounds and kilograms. The tension gage can be read directly on either band saws of any type, or power hacksaws. It is graduated to read up to 60,000 PSI or 4,000 kg per square centimeter and is furnished with instructions.
This gauge can be used to dial in the exact tension you need for a particular task/blade combination. It is also useful for recalibrating the built-in tension gauges found on many band saws which are notoriously inaccurate.
In the absence of a built-in gauge on the saw, this gauge will facilitate the preparation of a table giving the number of turns needed on the tension wheel for a particular blade width to correctly tension it without need of using the gauge every time a blade is changed. |
