A simple tool suitable for a variety of woodworking tasks. As implied by the name, it is a saddle square and a dovetail layout tool. Two sides are marked with bevels of 1:6 or 1:8 ratios for hardwood and softwood respectively.
By tightening the hinge screw, you can lock the tool in position allowing it to be used as a precision bevel gauge. This feature allows it to be aligned on a drawing or work piece, locked at the desired angle, then used to precisely set the angle of a blade, table, etc.
The hinge pin can be removed and the gauge reassembled with a straight leg and beveled leg on the same side to accommodate making both the dovetail bevel and endgrain saw alignment marks without moving the tool. Size: Each leg is 3-1/2 in. long - Overall: 6-¾ x 1-¼ x ¼ inch thick. |
