Auriou Hand Forged Drawkinves
Auriou Hand Forged Drawkinves

Auriou Hand Forged Drawkinves

Auriou Toolworks at the Forge de Saint Juery in France is well known for their high quality hand-stitched rasps and rifflers which are produced by a small team of highly skilled artisans.

These drawknives are hand forged, shaped and sharpened. The drawknife you receive is sharp and ready to work, unlike lesser products which require a considerable level of effort. Quality hand forged drawknives are designed to have the handle angle adjusted for the most ergonomic and comfortable position. People of differing strength and shoulder width can readily make adjustments to suit their frame.

Details of Auriou's three Drawknife models:

9 in. Drawknife with Front Curved Bevel Flat Blade

  • Gentle radius and an effective blade angle that produces fast, controlled cutting
  • Turned 5 in. French walnut handles with brass ferrules spaced 13-1/2 in. apart
  • Slight splay to the handles (about 8 degrees) which makes drawing knife toward you more comfortable
  • Honed and ready to use
  • Weight - 1.2 lbs.
  • Manufacturer's Part Number: 064S01 02150 25
  • Made in France
9 in. Drawknife with Straight Bevel Flat Blade

  • Turned 5 in French walnut handles with brass ferrules are spaced 13-1/2 in. apart
  • Very slight splay to the handles which makes drawing knife toward you more comfortable
  • Honed and ready to use
  • Weight - 1.2 lbs.
  • Manufacturer's Part Number: 064503 01 220 35
  • Made in France
Auriou 6 in. Drawknife with Straight Bevel Concave Blade

  • This Drawknife fits squarely between the more diminutive sculpture or carver's drawknife and the larger models above. It is developing a following among chair-makers because it offers excellent control and is easier to learn to use that it's larger brethren.
  • 6 in. wide, curved blade 1 in. deep with offset handles which are above the plane of the cutting edge for knuckle clearance
  • 3-1/2 in. beech handles with brass ferrules are spaced 10-3/4 in. apart
  • Honed and ready to use
  • Manufacturer's Part Number: 064S01 02150 25
  • Weight - 0.7 lbs.
  • Made in France
