A-55 Trying plane - Gidgee - 18in. long with a 2in. wide HCS blade is well suited to final smoothing of any long lumber surface or for jointing.
This 4.25 lb plane brings together the best of both wood and metal plane design. Comfortable handles, excellent balance, and minimal friction from the wood sole make this plane a pleasure to use.
The "Norris Style" blade adjustment mechanism provides precision positioning for both depth and side-to-side movement. As icing on the cake, there is little or no backlash in the screw adjustment thanks to close tolerances in the adjustment mechanism and blade.
Gidgee is a native Australian wood which is a member of the Acacia family. Wood is carefully selected, cut and dried to produce a stable and reliable tool capable of long service.
This trying plane would be a welcome addition to the tool kit of anyone working with hard and highly figured woods. The 55 degree bedding angle is an excellent choice for preventing tearout in difficult grain.
