Unlike most spoke shaves, this tool easily cuts against the grain with little or no tearout due to the tight mouth and middle pitch (55 degree) bedding angle of the blade. In use, the tool is easily controlled because the blade/sole geometry helps the tool follow the contour of the work.
Gidgee is a native Australian wood which is a member of the Acacia family. Wood is carefully selected, cut and dried to produce a stable and reliable tool capable of long service.
