A2 tool steel is more resistant to wear when used in abrasive woods containing high levels of silica such as tropical hardwoods.
O1 tool steel blades are easier to sharpen and will take a somewhat finer edge.
These blade and chipbreaker sets should fit most bench planes made by Stanley, Record, Millers Falls and others. Since the blades and chipbreakers are thicker than the blade you are replacing, it is normal to adjust the frog in order for them to fit properly.
