Veritas Dividing Rule
Dividing a board into a number of equal parts is usually done by placing a rule askew on the board and eyeballing pencil locations against the inch marks. Not only is it difficult to place the rule exactly where you want it and hold it there, but it is easy to make small marking errors. - This dividing rule eliminates both of these problems.
The swiveling pins have flats on them that hold the rule firmly in position, and the holes in the rule are numbered for easy identification to divide a workpiece up to 8 in. wide into two to 10 equal divisions.
The end with the double pins lets you use the rule like a marking gauge, but with the ability to mark off a number of strips of equal width, since it has a series of perforations at 1/16 in. intervals up to 4 in.
What makes it particularly convenient to use is that the rule can be slid along the board with the pencil in one of the marking holes, making a line of whatever length you want, parallel to the board edges. - Made from stainless steel and brass. Patented. |
