As their name suggests, Specialty Planes fulfill a vast array of specialized tasks for which the more common block and bench planes are not well suited.
Among the most popular models are the Large Shoulder Plane used for cleaning up the shoulders and cheeks of tenons, Side Rabbet Planes which can take a fraction off the width of a rabbet to achieve that perfect fit, and the Small Chisel Plane which will cleanly remove the most obstinate glue squeeze out without gouging the surface.
