If you fancy making your own plane, there is a nice kit by Hock Tools for a Krenov style plane, or you can select a Hock plane plan and matching straight or curved blade set with included cap iron.

HNT Gordon's Classic Planes bodied in Capetown Ironwood, Ebony and Gidgee are both beautiful and functional employing brass soles or mouths where appropriate for durability.

Clifton produces reproductions of Stanley Bedrock style bench planes and shoulder planes originally conceived by the famous Edward Preston & Sons planemakers.

Lie-Nielsen Toolworks of Warren Maine has become an American Icon of planemaking over the past Twenty-Five years producing a growing line of superb tools. If you are unfamiliar with their tools, we suggest starting out with a No.102 Low Angle Block Plane in either Bronze or Ductile Iron - It's a very useful tool and great introduction to the Lie-Nielsen Line.
