Lie-Nielsen Honing Guide

This version of the side clamping style of honing guide is solidly machined from Stainless Steel, with a Bronze bearing.

It features removable jaws: replacement jaws are available for Chisels 3/16" and under, tall jaws for Mortise Chisels, long jaws for very short blades and angled jaws for Skew Blades. Lie-Nielsen has designed these jaws for our blades and chisels, not other makers'.

The Honing Guide comes with the standard pair of jaws that fit most of Lie-Nielsen blades.

Lie-Nielsen Honing Guide Jaws

  • The Standard Jaws (included with the Honing Guide) fit most of our plane blades, as well as our 1/4" to 3/4" Bevel Edge Chisels.
  • The Chisel Jaws fit our 1/8" and 3/16" Bevel Edge Chisels (as well as our 1/4" to 3/4" Bevel Edge Chisels).

5 of 5 Best Honing Guide Ever February 1, 2019
Reviewer: David R from Katy, TX United States
I have been frustrated for years with trying to get a good edge on my plane irons. When I first started out I purchased one of those cheap reproductions of the Eclipse honing guide only to be frustrated with the results I got due to the poor machining. I tried freehanding only to end up with worse results than with the cheap guide. After much research I happened upon this guide, which promised to provide better results because of its superior machining and materials. I almost didn’t get it because of the price, but couldn’t find any other affordable alternative. So I sucked it up and ordered one, which came in today. I immediately set about sharpening all my chisels. These aren’t Lie-Nielsen chisels, but a variety of lesser expensive ones. All I can say is wow! I didn’t realize how badly I had messed up my chisels. It took a lot of work to get them squared up and sharp but the Lie_Neilsen honing guide delivered great results. I can’t wait to work on my plane irons.
